  • For the specific purposes of this document and its associated procedures, except as otherwise noted, “divisional dean” also refers to the John A. Paulson Dean of SEAS, and “department chairs” to SEAS area chairs. Although SEAS faculty members follow the same policies, some procedures may vary. Therefore, members of SEAS should also consult SEAS-specific documents.
  • All procedural questions regarding faculty hiring, reviews, promotions, and leaves should be directed to the appropriate associate dean, and the associate dean should receive a copy of all documentation regarding these procedures. For more detailed listings on whom to contact, please see the “FAS Contacts by Topic” table in Chapter 1.
  • The Office for Faculty Affairs reserves the right to request additional information or recommend changes to the dossier at any time during the search or review process
  • Throughout Chapter 13, the term “department” also refers to “center” or “area.”
  • Please see 2G (“Termination Documentation”) for policies and processes pertaining to the termination of appointments. These policies and processes apply to the research appointments in Chapter 13. For further guidance on the termination process, please contact the divisional/SEAS associate dean for faculty affairs or the Director of the FAS Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.
  • Researchers may be eligible to serve as a Teaching Assistant. Please refer to the page on teaching on the FAS Office of Postdoctoral Affairs website and fill out the TA application form.
